Spend the day usefully at the truly vast National Center for Traditional Arts, which you'll find near Wujie Village in Yilan County. There are cultural performances, demonstrations of old crafts including the opportunity to make things with your own hands, many stylish shops and refreshment options. Plenty of places to shelter from the hot sun on hot days is a plus. There is an entrance fee to the park, expect to pay extra money if your kids have fallen for the DIY charm.
